History...
of Graymor Garden Cottage
During the 1930'S George & Mabel Morrison of Carmel, California began spending their summers in the Campbell River area. From July to October each year they stayed at the lodge at Forbes Landing. When the lodge unfortunately burned to the ground, they then took up residence as summer guests at the Willows Hotel.
After several summers of renting accommodation George decided it was time to purchase some property and build a little cabin for their holiday times. He found a wonderful wooded property, just a few blocks south of the downtown with 100 feet of waterfront. It was the perfect site for the Morrison's new summer home. Before heading back to Carmel in 1937 they asked a local logger to clear a bit of the property to make room for a small (22' x 22') cabin.

Campbell River is well-known for salmon fishing, as the gateway to Strathcona Park, and as an excellent, central Vancouver Island base for the broad array of outdoor activities found here, from caving, kayaking and hiking in the summer to scuba diving and skiing in the winter. Campbell River is also home to an excellent museum, art gallery, performing arts theatre and many talented, local artisans.
