Graymor Garden Cottage is a great location for exploration of northern Vancouver Island.
Campbell River is located half-way up the Island and is wonderfully situated for day trips to Mount Washington to ski in the winter or hike through Paradise Meadows in the summer. The panoramic view from the chairlift is spectacular.
Within easy driving distance you can explore Strathcona and Elk Falls Parks, swim at Miracle Beach and check out numerous woodland walking trails. Whale and bear watching trips depart daily during the summer season and you can even go snorkeling with the salmon. Ocean, lake and river fishing opportunities abound and there are numerous experienced guides available to help you catch the big one.
There are two superb 18 hole golf courses: Storey Creek and Sequoia Springs and an 18 hole disc golf course just a few minutes drive from the cottage. Visitors of all ages may want to try out the new Indoor Climbing Wall facility just a couple of minutes away.
Quadra Island, a 15-minute ferry trip away, offers artists galleries, bicycle touring, kayaking, wildlife tours, and swimming and picnicking at Rebecca Spit.
Closer to home, less than a block away, you can visit the Campbell River Museum, the Maritime Heritage Centre.
Campbell is known world-wide for sportfishing! Fish from a boat with a professional fishing guide or try your luck fishing for salmon from Discovery Pier, watch the cruise ships and treat yourself to the biggest and best ice cream cone on the Island.
There are manu wildlife adventure tours available to provide the opportunity to view orcas (killer whales), grizzly and black bears, dolphins and seals in their natural environment.
On Sunday mornings from May to October the Pier parking lot transforms into the Pier Street Farmers' Market with fresh produce, locally produced cheese, eggs, bison and fallow deer venison, baked goodies and an assortment of local craft items. Fresh salmon, crab, prawns and halibut are usually available from the fishboats moored by the Pier.
